ARE WE ALLOWED TO TALK ABOUT HOLIDAYS?

I don’t know about you but do you feel a bit January like? A bit fed-up, slumpy and not sure what 2021 is going to bring? I am so grateful that the children are back at school and things feel seemingly normal on that front. There are pick-ups, drop-offs and lovely positive emails from the headmaster. But at the same time things feel complicated and just ever so slightly up in the air.

For one glorious week Boris decided we could holiday in the Canaries, the Seychelles and the Maldives. Yippee! And then came the press conference before “Strictly” and here we go again lovely ones, as along with many we lockdown for a second time.

And so the niggling problem for all of us is how long until we get there? “Are we nearly there yet?!” When can we look to escape the confines of our country. Will I be safe? When will it stop raining - literally and metaphorically - and how long will it be before we can get away?

And then despite the niggles, I want to share this thought. Now I’m not suggesting we leap aboard a catamaran and sail off into the horizon. Although that thought has definitely crossed my mind! That despite the niggles we must stay optimistic and continue planning. There is always the promise of exotic lands, of the wilderness that makes us feel alive and enduring encounters with unique personalities that make travel so inspirational.

There will be dreamy beaches, long lunches in the sun; we’ll order cocktails or mocktails and look back to our lockdown days and Boris’s daily press conferences. There will be real tans, fake tans and lots of fun. I’m not saying it will be tomorrow, or that you will be ready tomorrow, but do understand this. That travelling to different shores can happen and that “we’ll get there soon.”

Travel is a worthy investment. I am partnered with 360 Private Travel which in these unprecedented times is an extremely good thing. The suppliers we work with are wholly trustworthy and there are clear and flexible cancellation policies for every booking. Even if you are travel pro at the moment, there are roadblocks that arise and having a ginormous team at 360 behind me means I can help salvage and secure your long-awaited trips.

So let’s talk about holidays. Trust you can book, that you can get there and back safely. That you will be looked after to the very best of my ability. And let’s be less January like.
