The Maldives
BRIEF
A dreamy beach stay holiday for a family in August who are looking for a holiday post Covid-19.
PLAN
Six Senses, Laamu.
The Maldives is an expansive cluster of islands surrounded by the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. It’s the ultimate beach stay holiday. It’s got seriously cool hotels. It’s incredibly chic and it’s breath-taking. And it’s very disparate. Because the Maldives are private islands, that level of exclusivity and privacy is hard to beat. The string of 1,200 coral islands is a utopia for divers, who can explore untouched reefs, pinnacles, caves while swimming next to giant rays, turtles and more than 1000 species of fish. There are adult only islands, family friendly resorts and so on.
Experiences are unique to every island, resort and atoll. The Maldives is a year-round destination and experiences two seasons every year. It’s sunny and dry from December to April. And has a few showers in May to November, brought in by the South West trade winds. The times to be cautious are at the end of May beginning of June and the end of October beginning of November.
I have booked my clients a stay at Six Senses Laamu. An atoll utopia where sumptuous meets sustainable. It's the only resort on the remote Laamu Atoll in the southern Maldives yet just a short inter-island flight and boat hop away. Travelling in August they can experience both diving and surf lessons on the famous Yin Yang break.
Their commitment to sustainability was a winner for my clients. The resort was awarded “Leading Eco Resort” at the Maldives Travel Awards 2019 and “Best for Wildlife & Nature Conservation” at the World Tourism Market (WTM) World Responsible Tourism Awards 2019.
