AQUILAE BARBADOS
What’s your perfect family summer holiday? If you could click your fingers and be there, I would say “yes” to Barbados. If you haven’t been it’s a fantastic idea. Incredible beaches and clear waters mean there’s an abundance of watersports. It’s also a premier surf spot and the golf courses are infamous.
And if you’re not wanting a hotel then Villa Aquilae is a splendid idea. The owners have it completely sussed. Beach, sea, pool, oodles of space for humans - big and small - and a really friendly person occasionally (or not!) to help with sundowner bites, coconut thirst quenchers and organising concierge.
There is a huge terrace that happens to have an infinity pool that overlooks the sea. The water is the stuff of drawings. There’s a “turtle” bar, there are padded loungers littered about and topped with dreamy towelling, there are massive palm trees, there’s a huge area for outdoor dining and more than one sun-decked area for “being still like vegetables.”
A whole family can inhabit this space and just happily breeze and waft about. It’s grown up and sophisticated so trust me if you have older children they will thank you profusely! But equally it’s so versatile and works well if you have tiny ones. There are huge bedrooms and the villa is all one floor (good for small people). Need a cot? No problem? Need an area to study or nomadically work. Yup sorted - there’s a proper room set up. In the mood to break a sweat and lift a few weights?
There is a gym. The villa is private, gated and secure. Oh and soooooo close to golf, shopping and beaches! I do need to mention it comes with a golden ticket to Sandy Lane golf course. Which means when you’re here you can easily hike, bike, boat or dive your way around the island. And there are people. There’s a housekeeper, a chef if necessary (and of course me!) to help you plan and have a wonderful stay.
